What does the word “Initiant” mean?
It is derived from a French word meaning forward thinking and initiator. We believe that bringing value to healthcare requires new approaches to both new and old challenges.
Is this a merger of the hospitals?
No, not at all. The health care systems and hospitals that are members of Initiant are independent. Initiant is a jointly owned company that facilitates collaboration among participants and members.
Will other hospitals get to join in?
Yes, we believe that the efforts of the collaborative members will be enhanced by other strong independent hospitals joining.
What will Initiant do?
It will focus on taking costs out of health care for the benefit of the members, the patients, the payers, and the communities served.
What other functions beside cost and expense management will Initiant work on?
Cost effectiveness is the primary focus of Initiant. Those activities that result in improved costs or avoided expenses will be pursued.
How many employees will Initiant have?
At first, none. The founding member health care systems are making personnel and resources available from their own organizations to do the work of Initiant.
How will you know Initiant is successful?
We will be measuring real savings and avoided costs.
Why did you form a company? Couldn’t you just do this without one?
A jointly owned company facilitates the work of the parties to find synergies, efficiencies, and cost savings.
